And the hits just keep on coming. Originally the lead number from The B-52's 1978 Downtown Cafe performance. As a result of these postings I learned a mutual friend, Jeff Thies, was co-owner of the DC. Thanks for the great music, Jeff!

But they were already starting to deteriorate with Whammy! and then Bouncing Off the Satellites... They just didn't sound like a band anymore. Some of their songs sounded like they were written for children. Really bad producers and never again a live sound. So, they stopped playing instruments together as a band before Ricky died. Ricky and Keith got into drum machines and a very artificial sound. I listen to almost everything they ever recorded, and I'm a huge fan, but...

They were never the same when Ricky died. When he died the band was finished. It was like Led Zeppelin losing John Bonham or The Who losing Keith Moon, they were too important to the band and when they died the band was over. It was never the same.

Well, now they are in their 50's so what do you expect?? This is one of the most original bands of the 80's . Hope to see them play soon!!!

I loved and respected The B-52's during the years when they all played instruments. Now Kate, Fred and Cindy just stand there and sing and move around a bit while Cindy sometimes slaps bongos and Fred maybe plays a toy piano for a Rock Lobster encore. The band was much more exciting when they all played something.

Absolutely Outstanding!! Amazing Bass. And yes, for all you kids, there were color cameras in 1978. Memorial Day weekend 1978, four shows, in Hot-Lanta. Wish we could have been there!!

My favorite B-52s song - and I love a lot of them!

The girls and boys swung hard - very hard!

Thanks for the video - reminds me of back in the day running through the clubs in Chicago. You might pop in on a lame act or ... you drop in on sheer magic like these guys!
