This short clip introduces the Fuse youth mentoring program, in Adelaide, South Australia. The program enhances cultural understanding by matching volunteer mentors with young refugees to offer them a positive role model, help them set goals, socialise, and understand Australian culture.
The volunteer commitment is only 6 hours a month for 6 months. Its a small commitment for a lifetime of change. For more information about the program, visit the Fuse website at http://fuse.sabaptist.asn.au/ or find us on Facebook.
Fuse is an initiative of Baptist Care (SA). The film was funded through the Community Voices project of the Government of South Australias Office for Volunteers. It was made by students of the Department of Screen & Media at Flinders University: Brendon Skinner, Visalini Vinu, Curtis Brownjohn and Leigh Kenyon.
Awesome stuff guys that was great to say the volunteers are heros and the people they helping out will become great Australians. Excellent stuff sadly in NZ we don't have the youth mentoring stuff as such. But its a great idea!
