Well, after time and error, we finally figured out the compost Toilet system.
It is working great. Even my wife is not of afraid of the composter of POO!

Enjoy.

  • This is what I am looking for. Where did you get the system? And we have 2, planning on putting a 3rd toilet into our home, can you hook all of them up into one of these?

  • @Rmocothian

The company we used was Sun mar. They are great. It depends where (in the house) your second and third toilet will be if they are in a straight line up the one side of the house, yes, I am sure you can hook it up to one composer. If it is not, you may want to use a "self contained" compost toilet that has an incinerator with in the toilet itself.

  • Hey man,

How often have you had to empty that system with your whole family using it full time? Would a fam of 4 have to empty it every week?

  • @SimonKentSmith

Then answer is like every two weeks. You have to understand that most of the "liquid" waste will drain into the gray water, and what is left is very small (if you dried out waste and composting material). Like for me (it is just my wife and I), it is once every 3-4 weeks. But, there is no smell and once you get beyond the "omg, its poop", you don't even notice anything.

    Good luck.

  • drain the fluid into a container dug into the ground. the liquid is high in nitrates and will attack brickwork/wood and cause a smell. water down the fluid you collect 10 parts water to one part fluid. excellent liquid fertilizer extremly rich in nitrates (good for corn)

  • @lookingforthemeaning

Thanks for the info. I have a plumber looking at the problem. It was originally installed by someone (not me) that didn't know what he was doing or cared. I will look into the liquid option. I am allergic to corn. Thanks anyway.

    Peace

    John.

  • Wow, that's very interesting. A little disgusting, but very interesting. It's going to be some kind of experience for Americans all over the country to begin moving past their psychological blocks.

  • looks like a shitty job!

  • why can't you use the methane for heat in winter? there are ways to store it and use it with out explosions or fire. we have not figured out on how to liquefy it on earth.

  • @Kittenkattan Nature's Head is a whole lot cheaper. That's the company I'm going with for all of my house and boating needs. :)

  • Looks like you're getting plenty of Fiber in your diet.

  • thanks

  • It's hard to tell by the shadows, but if it is a south facing wall, you can always put a skylight in the roof and/or let a solar panel heat the space.

  • The dog went over and pee'd on the pile. LOL. You mentioned needing a heater to keep it above 55 degrees. I'm wondering if some solar panels and thing like a space heater would work? Course, that would only allow for the daytime. no heat at night.
