In this video i'm playing the "ragtime keyboard solo" from Dream Theater's "The Dance Of Eternity" using my Axis-49. I recorded right and left hand separately because of the keys limit of the Axis-49. I'm obviously not a keyboard player, this is just an experiment...so please don't kill me with your comments!! Enjoy! :D

  • no offense. as awesome as this may be, is there any way you could prove it isn't fake? cause it looks like it is. I'm not doubting you or anything but there are so many fakers on the interwebs.

  • Honestly I wouldn't know how to prove it, all I can say is that I recorded 2 different videos for right and left hand parts, and I obviously synced the audio tracks during the movie editing process. So it's not that perfect, but it's not a fake! What would be the fun in that!? :)

  • i LOVE IT! is it hard to learn? are you good at scales or something? :O for how long did you practice?!

  • Eheh...I'm not that good in scales with a traditional piano keyboard! :P By the way I've practice for a week before recording the piece...

  • Enjoyed that piece, you play it fluently which is good to see and hear! I wouldn't have known you're not a keyboard player; what's your main instrument? My main instrument's guitar but I love experimenting with this layout, when I have an instrument - I had to dismantle my 'Gecko' for parts to build another one - oh well, back to guitar for now!

  • Well...I guess my so called main instrument would be clarinet, but I don't really got a main instrument...first of all I'm an electronic musician and producer, and I play a little bit of guitar, bass, keyboard, drums...ecc. ;)

  • @AnarchyRules17 have you not heard the song? its a lil slower in this vid than in the actual song. def not fake :|

  • How about two handed?

  • @75egcg Yes, isn't that what musical instruments are for, pushing the boundaries, among other things?

  • Brilliant! Great rendition... well played!

  • @75egcg I see you haven't heard of the harmonic table. :p

Anything that a human can play on a piano a significantly less skilled one should be able to play on an instrument layed out this way. The main limitations are the size and key limit of the particular hardware.

  • 6,666? The devil of Ragtime, =)

  • this is pretty awesome, but how could that be a practical instrument? Can human hands even be dynamic enough to operate songs like that in real time as one player?

  • W.T.F. is that thing? ... good job anywho

  • awesome!

  • Awesomeness, Jordan Rudess' video made me spend the $500, this and a whole bunch of other videos are getting me soo excited about getting it. 3 more days! woo!
