  • how old is your Metriaclima estherae iv got drift wood in my malawi tank it does lower the ph but i have a lot of sandstone to balance it out.

  • He is a little over 3 years old.

  • Absolutely beautiful tank and well maintained. I don't think the drift wood is too big of a problem. Plus, you gotta switch it up. The rocks in your tank are incredible. Where'd you get them? I have a 36 gallon bowfront. Would you know by chance, what African Malawi Cichlids would be compatible in this tank, considering size and aggression? Also, what would be a good range for the total amount of fish? Thanks

  • Thanks for the reply. I like change every now and then in my tanks. I no longer have the driftwood in the tank. I'm using all limestone and switched to aragonite substrate. You can find and purchase limestone locally where I'm from. I would start off with 2-3 species. There are a lot of options if you are stocking a new tank. Labidochromis caeruleus and Pseudotropheus acei's aren't too aggressive by nature. It's mainly what you are interested in keeping.

  • hey! how big is your tank? and how heavy are the rocks that you put? im planning to redesign my tank. ill refer to your design, but no driftwoods. and balck background to show the intense color of cichlids thank you

  • It's a 55g. I'm using medium to large pieces of limestone. I currently have 50-60 lbs in the tank at the moment.

  • Nice tank, a couple demasoni, hongis or mbambas would look nice in this tank

  • One mistake in the description, I am afraid it is Pseudotropheus Esterae, and not Metriaclime Esterae. Beautiful tank!

  • You have a couple Mbuna`s I havn`t seen.The blue with red top and bottom.Those are nice.

  • Wow. I plan on doing the same with my cichlids but in a 125 gallon tank. I plan on having a tank similar to what you would find in the wild, in Lake Malawi. But I have to admit, what you have done with thi stank is termendous, yet so serene. Kudos.
