He did do a version with just his guitar and his voice. Its on the new acoustic album, released just a few years ago by Yoko. This is probably the best version of it on youtube, but it isn't as good as Lennon's.

How true. You've probably heard the acoustic version for it to be that close to it, right? The acoustic version is much better than the other version.
