*This is a rough draft of me signing this song*
This is my interpretation of "The Saltwater Room" in ASL, soon to be signed for my final.
It's my first time signing for youtube, and I was pretty nervous!
I even forgot some signs later in the video..
despite the mistakes though, I hope you all enjoy!!

Lyrics:
I opened my eyes last night and saw you in the low light
Walking down by the bay on the shore
Staring up at the stars that aren't there anymore
I was feeling the night grow old (grow old) and you were looking so cold
So like an introvert, I drew my over shirt
Around my arms and began to shiver violently
Before you happened to look and see (and see) the tunnels all around me
Running into the dark underground
All the subways around create a great sound
To my motion fatigue, farewell
With your ear to a seashell
You can hear the waves in underwater caves
As if you actually were inside a saltwater room

Time together isn't ever quite enough
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time

Can you believe that the crew has gone?
And they wouldn't let me sign on
All my islands have sunk in the deep,
And I can hardly relax or even oversleep
When I feel warm with your hand in mine
When we walk along the shoreline
I guess we'll never know why sparrows love the snow
We'll turn out all of the lights and set this ballroom aglow

So tell me darlin', do you wish we'd fall in love?
Yeah, all the time
All the time

Time together isn't ever quite enough
When you and I are alone, I've never felt so at home
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
Only time, only time
When we're apart what ever are you thinking of?
If this is what I call home, why does it feel so alone?
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time, all the time

Time together isn't ever quite enough
When we're apart what ever are you thinking of?
What will it take to make or break this hint of love?
So tell me darling, do you wish we'd fall in love?
All the time
Oh, all the time

  • Like, Like, Like... :)

This is an awesome interpretation of this song. One of my favorite Owl City songs, and this just made it better!

I just finished my first year of ASL and I understood pretty much all of this! It was a lot of classifiers though, was it not? That may be why I understood it all. :)

  • @littlebosqueak Yea there was a good amount of classifiers, as I thought the song called for them!

Keep signing my friend, ASL is a beautiful language!

  • This was realllyyyy good. Nice job on the interpretation.

And some signs are a little different.

    But I really liked this.

    Awesome job. :)

    How did your final go?

  • Thank you!!

Yea, it took me a lil while to get the interpretation to my liking... glad you appreciate it xD

and my final went excellently well, got 100% xD

    Thanks again!!

  • Interesting signs, your local signs are way different than the ones around here, but that's fine. Just never seen the words signed that way, good band tho. (I should also mention that classifiers were interesting too).

  • what do you mean?

im curious to which signs are different, im studying to be an interpreter so id like to hear any feedback you can give!

    thanks =)

  • Awwww youre so good! Your classifiers are adorable!! ^__^ Keep posting videos!!

  • @andipoetic He has two versions of this song (I like this one better).

His CD "Maybe I'm Dreaming" says "...looking up at the planes that aren't there anymore"

In the CD "Ocean Eyes" says "...looking up at the stars that aren't there anymore."

  • I am HH person. I don't know this song, don't have speakers, can't hear it. But it is SO NICE to see some ASL students Signing ASL and not Pidgin. Most are soooo English and boring. I enjoy your story. You have ASL skill! Good job! Keep it up!

  • In the song, they sang "staring up at the star that aren't there anymore" where'd you get one where they sang that? In every version I have they sing "staring up at the planes that aren't there anymore"

  • really really good!

    i need to practice! ;D

  • Subscribe! When do we see more?!

  • Wow, your amazing!!!

  • this is awesomee!! i was thinking of doing this song for my asl final too haha go figure,, buut can you tell me where you looked up how to sign it that well? i can only find asl pro, but it confuses me, i want to translate phrases into pure asl, think you can help me out? this video is awesome, and glad you chose the most amazing band haha :)
