On Good Friday (9 April) 2009, my church, Sacred Heart Church in Dunn, NC, conducted the Extraordinary Form of the Mass for Good Friday (as it is permitted to do on a regular basis). Afterward, we had a funeral procession (see my earlier video, "Good Friday Funeral Procession") and burial service for Our Lord. Here is the burial service. The priest in black vestments is our priest, Fr. Paul Parkerson.

  • i'm surprised to see this, it's usually the eastern rite that does this. did they do this in the extraordinary form?

  • @mleonetti1991 Yes, at this (my) church, they have permission to do the Extraordinary Form and do so at Noon ever Sunday.

  • The title of the clip is wrong. Good friday is the only day in the year where there is no mass in Catholic and I think also in Ortodox churces. So the appropriate title would be Good friday Latin liturgy.

  • this is so interesting.....

  • perfect ceremony for good friday..

  • It is also performed in Jerusalem at the Holy Sepulchre in a separate evening service and is a really spiritual and beautiful ceremony with the 'body of the crucified lord' being carried to and placed in the tomb of Jesus itself.

  • Being part Spanish this is really touching to me.

  • thank you for sharing this
