DC Fights Back World AIDS Day: HOME IS LIFE Rally. The rally took place Wednesday December 1, 11:30am at Freedom Plaza in downtown Washington D.C. (at the intersection of Pennsylvania Avenue and 14th Street NW, across from the John A. Wilson Building).
Housing status is one of the strongest predictors of health outcomes for District residents including people living with HIV & AIDS: lack of housing is a barrier to quality care, while increased housing stability enables poor and low-income individuals and families - including people living with HIV & AIDS - to obtain and adhere to life-saving medical care, antiretroviral therapy, substance use and mental illness counseling, and other support and educational services.
For many in the Washington D.C. and surrounding areas, quite simply, HOUSING IS LIFE.
DC Fights Back is a network of people living with HIV/AIDS and their allies working to engage ourselves and our communities in every aspect of HIV advocacy to ensure the best possible treatment and care for people living with HIV/AIDS; and the best possible science-based HIV prevention.
