太極氣功十八式,第一套的第一式,起勢調息。

心意為帥,昇降為仕,伸縮為相,開合伸縮隨昇降,手在上時為伸,手在下時為縮。如是以伸縮為引,手的重心亦會空丟,那就不能順利上下遷引之勢,因是走掉垂象之氣。肘配胯,­腕配膝,掌指配整體變化。起動時以肩脖為引提,傳至臂肘腕掌指隨下垂,上昇至肩高,下降時鬆胯曲膝,兩手隨著下按至小腹前,在下降時胯緩緩下坐相配肘沉,膝配腕相接,達至­掌按到小腹前。此為下降之氣。
反象為,膝腕胯肘找整體的根中梢相互對調,一起一落昇降伸縮才能達到外形有柔和之象。在進入呼吸意識練習配合,通過身心、動作、呼吸、氣息的結合,達到養生練氣內外相濟至­善至美的仙境。
