Hiking Santa Paula Canyon Falls Punchbowl

My Trip to the falls and Punchbowl in Santa Paula Canyon. There are many books, websites and guides that talk about the hike. The canyon was ripped up a few years back from the storms and the trail is not easy to find or follow in many places. I could not find the cutoff to Big Cone camp ground and if you can find that cut off the rest of the hike going up the middle of the canyon is all bouldering.

This day hike can be difficult. We went in the middle of summer and it gets hot. Take a Water filter. There is also places to backpack and camp overnight, check for the regulations with the Los Padres Forest Rangers. Follow me on Twitter http://www.twitter.com/realtorted

the second time i went on that trail,and the first time i completed it (i was only 12) i ended up getting heat exhaustion and nearly heat stroke. unless you carry lots of water or excerise water management you definatley need to bring some sort of purifier or pot to biol the water in. also if you cant find the trail follow the water, its a bit harder and you might have to get wet, and if you do cool off regulary theres almost no shade.

@minipancho94 Thanks, This time of year it is hot but worth it for the swim at the destination. Start early when it is cool. I have a MSR filter.  I would not go up there without it.

Just went last Sunday, the water was very low, we all have fun! To bad for all that tagging , going back in 2 weeks:)
