@twiggy00100 I think you miss the point. Its the greedy private agencies which are the problem and they are the ones which are giving charity a bad name as their number one priority is personal wealth. And I am doing something about it, i'm campaining rigerously to have it banned and this isn't whining as you put it, i'm sick to the back teeth being followed, having rude comments thrown at me and being obstucted on a daily basis. Even the police want chuggers banned in Shrewsbury

@janettosan What about the local business' and local charities who are losing trade because of chuggers when people are avoiding certain areas? chuggers are a big problem that need to be dealt with. By the way chuggers cannot approach everyone such as under 18's and there is no such regulation about two rejections and the code of conduct is ignored by many so its not at all 'iron clad' as you put it. I think its you that have no idea what your on about.....mate.

@janettosan I know everything i'm on about, i've been studying this issue for years. What about the abuse and harassment that the general public have to put up with from chuggers? Chuggers have made a rod for their own backs and have deserved their bad reputation and most people, local authorities and now the police want rid of them. Google 'Shrewbury chuggers' for the latest in a long list of authoriites that are very much aware of this problem.

@Curryking32000 There are bad people which take advantage of this job, yes. But its the most effective way to get money for the causes that need it. Dont blame people who go out to raise money, if more people gave it more willingly and if money were more readable available then it wouldn't be a problem. Alas this is not the case. So stop fucking whining and do something about it, like tale to one of those "chuggers" and get involved. Twat.

@Curryking32000 Also, it takes guts to stand out on a freezing cold street for 8 hours everyday and approach thousands of judgemental strangers just to try and get a few people inspired enough to sign up for donation. We don't work on commission. We don't get exploited and we don't exploit others. If it weren't for street fundraising, charities wouldn't be able to continue half the work they do. When was the last time you got a pay rise and thought, 'Oh cool, I'm gonna go donate to a charity' ?

@Curryking32000 You have no idea what the fuck you're on about mate. Charities get over 75% of their donations thanks to "chuggers" out on the streets every day copping abuse from assholes like yourself. We are bound by iron clad legal documentation that prevents us from in any way harassing the public, we are allowed to approach anyone and everyone but if that person offers more than two rejections then we are obligated to move on. We save lives for a living, I bet you can't say the same.

In reality this form of exploitation of workers and the general public by guilt tripping and harrassing them in the streets is one of the most unpopular mistakes the charity sector has ever done.
