Teledoubters should go search for Ted Greene and listen up.

Three dislikes so far. Why? Jazz on a tele? Of course you can! Tele's are so damn Jazzy!

@RonVermillion A good instrument definitely helps though. It just to polish off a good player is the way I see it. If you're searching for a faster neck, warmer tone, brighter tone, something more sleek, or maybe you want another string.
It is the player not the instrument, but still the instrument is important. I mean different series of guitars are aimed for different sounds and playing styles.
Thing is theres telecasters are generally good guitars, they can play any genre well.

@lightnin1 Absolutely not, it's not a specific brand you need to get a great jazz tone. My schecter c-1 classic sounds great in the neck position for warm jazz tones, all the big guys make jazz model guitars (fender, gibson, schecter, ibanez, etc). Good luck, and nice playing proto

look, i'm not dogging your playing at all, you've got excellent skill, but this just doesn't sound right to me. I close my eyes and try my hardest to hear that warm soulful tone but it just sounds like a telecaster playing the same notes that a hollow-body with p-90s should be. I know it's just personal preference, but I do think there is a reason the vast majority of jazz guitarists use hollow-bodied arch tops.

It's true. Just so true,
My teacher is a soundman at a notable jazz bar in town, very conservative. Even he agrees. Your sound is 20% in your pickups, guitar, amp, etc. The rest is you.

That was beautiful. Great playing.

I have no idea what I was trying to spell when I inadvertently typed "grove protocosm", I think it was groove progression, but at this point who knows. Very cool playing.

Beautiful - what an ad for Tele's (and you!!)

OMG:
I just realized it's the player not the instrument. You can play any style you want on a Telecaster, or Les Paul, or ESP, or Ibanez or or or.... certainly an instrument that is made specifically for a type of sound say a Gibson L-5 will be better at that specific style but Brent Mason could take an L-5 and chicken pick the heck out of it. Can you say Mel Travis...
Nice style, technique and grove protocosm - good work. And Nice Jazz Model Tele too.

Wow, that is great sounding! I've been getting into Jazz lately and thought I needed a Gibson for Jazz tone, I guess not! What kind of Tele and pickups are you using?

It's a customshop '63 relic with the fender pick-ups it came with.
