  • Yes... His name is Frank Paris. He was the originator of Howdy Dowdy. I worked with him at Bob Baker Marionettes during the eighties. He was a wonderful guy... sorely missed.

  • I really like! Thanks:))

  • @JSMiner1ify Frank Paris created the first Howdy Doody puppet, but because of a liscencing dispute that went to court, the puppet was burned and no longer exists. The Howdy Doody character that everyone is familiar with was designed & created by L.A. Puppeteer Velma Dawson. Margo & Rufus Rose became the head puppeteers on Howdy Doody, and went on to create additional characters, and were the caretakers of these puppets, during the show, and long after the show had finished taping.

  • That's awesome!... *.*

  • Thank you so much for posting these treasures. It is the thing that I love about youtube. Really, this is just priceless footage and brilliant artistry. Fascinating information about Howdy Doody and Buffalo Bob too.

  • The story i know---Frank Paris was my teacher and friend---he started Howdy Doody on Tv with his marionette for about 6 months and the problem was with Buffalo Bob as i understand it from him. Buffalo Bob was starting to copyright Frank's puppets. CBS was sued for a Million dollars which was hefty back 60+ years ago. Frank won. The original first Howdy Doody had to be destroyed.

  • This puppeteer I believe who has claimed to have created the Howdy Doody marionette has had in history a long outstanding feud long time ago with Rufus and Margo Rose of New London CT with whom I have gotten to know the couple that they were the first and original creators of Howdy Doody themselves I have personally witnessed in their very own home studio. What's the story I heard about him stealing their idea? I need to know the facts and truth of the outcome in this matter please. Thank you

  • His ideas were so common. The puppets of Greer Lankton are more contemporary.
