Music is so powerful. Eric bibb uses it to witness. It's his misinstry. God has blessed him. You can't say a word that would keep him from preachin the4 good news through his music. God bless all

Man, people need to chill.
For those blues purists out there, this is about as good as it gets for contemporary blues. This guy is 61 by the way so I'd hardly call this contemporary.
Comparing Bibb to Spears, someone half his age, is a pretty big stretch if you ask me.

@busessuck1 There's something else here than what you call 'real blues' - living through hardship and paying your dues. Being part of the 'holy blues' repertoire, rather than a normal blues, Johnson, as usual 'praying up a storm', talks about perdition as a possibility in the future if he turns away from the grace of God. It would be just as fair to say that anyone who sings this song without being spiritually aware commits a different kind of sacrilege to what you are describing. Peace n Love

I agree that this is weak, he's singing it like it's a lullaby - it lacks everything that makes the original songs by Johnson so captivating
also there's something unsettling about his face - (I know he can't help it, but maybe he should used it to his advantage and act like a real bluesman instead of a one man tribute to peter, paul and mary)

Love this old hymn...remember vividly how the old folks sang it together while sitting on the old front porches down south! Eric Bibb & his wonderful accompanists do a fantastic renditions...so happy to see this great legacy in old music styles being kept alive and well! Thanks for sharing the great uploads. I am a fan of Eric Bibb's and I am looking forward to collecting most of his albums for my music library.

@TheBluescollector you r a fuckin retard........................
...how could u even think about listening to Spears? YOu r most definetly not a blues man Go back and listen to Britaney who? GOOF! what would you call her music besides SHIT!
@TheBluescollector Even though you seem to be an expert (I'm not denying that), I believe people like you are killing blues music...Your problem is that you're considering the blues as a dead music, the contemporary scene brought us a handful of fascinating artists...By the way, Eric Bibb is doing this cover very honestly, he could have faked the pain and the hardship,but he didn't, he stayed true to himself...In my opinion it's a great tribute...How dare you compare this to Britney Spears ?!?

personally i LOVE finding modern artist keeping the blues alive. its a shame people are too busy fighting over what label applies to whom instead of just ENJOYING the music. to me the labels are irrelevant either the music moves you or it doesn't
