Neerim Rd manual Gates

How can you finish reading the paper and have a rest when
the ding bells keep ringing and you have to run around and
open and close these silly gates. They don't work well and
you would think they are 100 years old.

Final days of one of Melbourne's last hand operated railway
intersection gates. Shot in 1986 again by RN.

Would say they were, no doubt that the the vid was shot as the the manual gates were on borrowed time.

VERY unreliable old wooden gates! now the electrical ones are way awesome! well in 86 not much people had brains smart enough to think about upgrading boom gates!

Cut it kinda close at 4:36 in the video didn't he !!??

The train stopped by the looks of it, and whistle might have been a bit of a chastisement by the engineer to the gate operator ...
