Quantitative data? Is that the same quantizes used for sampling in a digital format? (Sound/Images) Got to watch out for the descriptive words. What is the sample size?
I really just ignore the fact it doesn't matter what people state in surveys as it will change over time (opinion/culture) or doesn't matter what they believe (science/history).

Back on the Old Crow so must conclude: rationality is true animal instinct developed to the level of human complexity. The representational (duplicating) function is unique to man - but only because we have the ability to carry this function out (i.e. your example of cave painting - we are physcially able to paint caves). And so we perform our tasks, aided by rationality, and if we are lucky we have the one moment of freedom available to us - to step back and admire our work as a job well done.

You need look no further than modern art to see how the representational quality (or the duplicating quality to echo Marx)can be utterly devoid of reason. Is this freedom? No, because perversity has it's own trajectory. The proper end to which a being such as ourselves is appropriate will have to wait until I get a shower and can somehow sum it up properly and intuitively, that is to say with a view to our happiness and to what our effort, our human (labor) should amount to.

Okey Randy. Under the influence of Old Crow and reggae music, i will try to explain my position. First off - Reason (when it is working properly) is precisely what we have in common with animal instinct. The cat that swipes the bird from a tree limb is (in a parallel sense) the mathematician who has calculated the correct orbit of a Mars Voyager. This is a continuum.
What is peculiar to humanity is the representational quality of consicousness, which can be quite distinct from reason. (cont.)

Good vid, Randy. I think Juhunn fills in the gaps in the survey that you quote from. As he says, in the middle east and asia there is a greater incidence of people going into engineering, so your use of the word "corrollation" in the relationship between engineers and jihadists is very proper. Jihadists might in fact actively seek out skilled engineers to radicalise, just as they might radicalise younger people and persuade them to take up engineering training for jihad.
After watching this video I now completely agree with everything you've ever said about free will and non-deterministic neurons!

Randy, your new channel profile picture makes you look like a 40 something Eminem.
I must ask you, to get a clearer view of your points: do you own any domestic pets? Fish and amphibians (unfairly) don't count.

haha three of wands, long story on the profile pic; I was making a parody vid of one of veritas48's vids, but it hurt his feelings so I took it down. The profile pick hasn't changed yet though...go figure. Anyrate, w.r.t. the pets, yes, I own a cat.

randy - i applaud you on the cat, they have a way of being the best (quiet!) thoughtfull companions.
However, owning a single cat will not open you up to the kind of a posteriori, personal objections to some of your views that i had in mind, and so i offer you my undying intellectual love, and close our discussion on this topic.

Hey threeofwands, now you've really got me curious!!!! Where were you going with this, anyways? :-) And BTW, eminem is only a few years younger than I am---we're both middle aged white men from the midwest---I practically went to high school with him! :-)
