Just to show owners of a mid-range gaming PC how well they can run Batman: Arkham Asylum. Since this really is a console game you don't need a powerful computer to run this smoothly. Recorded with Fraps. Because of the compression the actual in-game quality is higher. This is the demo version of the game.

I did a benchmark in Fraps and here are the results:

Minimum framerate - 24 fps
Maximum framerate - 62 fps
Average framerate - 49 fps

Hardware:

XFX Geforce 9600 GT 512MB
AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3.0 Ghz
2GB Ram
Windows 7 32-bit

Settings:

Resolution - 1280x1024
V Sync - Yes
Nvidia Multi Sample Anti-Aliasing - Disabled

Detail Level - High
Bloom - Yes
Dynamic Shadows - Yes
Motion Blur - Yes
Distortion - Yes
Fog Volumes - Yes
Spherical Harmonic Lighting - Yes
Ambient Occlusion - No

Hardware Accelerated Physx(TM) - Off

Note: The game runs smoothly with Physx enabled (around 30 fps with all settings maxed out) but the framerate while recording would be too low so I turned it off.

The latest Nvidia drivers support stereoscopic 3D. This game look pretty good in 3D and the framerate is decent if you turn off some of the settings.

  • Pleazeeeeeeeeee hlep me......my system is lagging like hell in newest game like Prototype etc....

    My spec:

    Mainboard :BIOSTAR Group N61PA-M2S

    Chipset : nVidia GeForce 6100V

    Processor :AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ @ 3000MHz

    RAM :3072MBDDR2-SDRAM

    Video Card:NVIDIA GeForce 6200 LE 512Mb on board(tc1g)

    Hard Disk :SAMSUNG HD161HJ (160GB)

Operating System :Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3 (32-bit)

I need to change mainboard? :(

  • @fabyanthebest You need to buy a graphics card. The Geforce 6200 is an integrated graphics chipset and will not run demanding games. I recommend an AMD Radeon HD 5770 or 6770 for that system. An upgrade may require a better power supply.

  • @Fredvdp thx.....but the procesor and mainboard is ok?.....now i.m running win7 x64

  • @fabyanthebest Mainboard doesn't really matter. Find out if it has a PCI-e 16x slot so you can install modern graphics hardware. I did Google BIOSTAR Group N61PA-M2S and found a PC that had that and a Geforce 9600 so it should be compatible with new graphics cards.

The processor is decent by today's standards. It far exceeds Prototype's system requirements. For gaming the graphics card is the most crucial component of your PC.

  • who is better 4r gaming 9600 gt or ati 5570 1 gb?

  • @Umributt I quickly googled a benchmark and the 9600 GT is slightly faster.

  • @Fredvdp Thx a lot ;)

  • @SeronjaMan1 If you record footage the framerate is cut in half. What you see in this video is not representative of how smooth the game really runs.

  • is it me or does it lag a bit?

  • The game ran smoothly with Physx enabled but I don't know remember the exact framerate. Maybe I'll do a Physx benchmark later today.
