I was unemployed in January and when on my first and last visit to the job centre they asked me about my skills. I told the woman interviewing me that I can speak fluent German. She then scanned her computer & said "oh here is a job you can apply for. They are looking for someone who can speak Spanish." I was taken aback & I repeated that I could speak German. Then she looked me straight in the face & said, "Its another language though, isnt it. Why not contact them anyway & see what happens."

I agree as I have only been signing on for about two weeks after my contract finished at my old job and now I am volunteering at an art gallery bye choice just to get out of the house. As I hate it when people say everyone on JSA are lazy and no one at the J.Centre helps, now I don't know about you, but yes I am lazy even though I have a 1st class BA Hons degree, a Masters degree and have over eight years experience in my field which is in the creative arts, I f%%king hate signing on!

@WORLD8NSH5KNIGHT1 I already know about the group but thank you and I do agree the system needs to be re-informed in which helps and encourages people to look for and find work.

Thanks partly to the gutter press, there is a large proportion of the public misinformed about welfare claimants and as a result they have become among the most unfairly demonised people in Britain. I hate it too. I think the system really needs to be reformed but not in the way some populist politicians are suggesting. If you use facebook, I recommend you check out the group 'Generalising the Unemployment' Please don't regard that as spam- people need to know the facts.

Sadly, JCPlus is no help for the future generation since the majority will be coming out of universities. I chose to work alongside Poles than sign up after leaving university, until I created my own and now live as an IT contractor. The reason I avoided was because my parents lived through such an ordeal, and I always hated when I went along with them.
I never understood why they can't even arrange the seatings in a more discreet manner than having everybody else watching each other.
Government looking to cut back on spending? well start at the Jobcentre offices where you could halve the staff. 100's of staff not doing much at all except gossiping!

@10lx I think that if the gpvernment offered redundancy they would have a lot more takers than half the staff.
