Great vid. It was to the point while at the same time breaking it down to a "for-dummies" level.

Yes. The framework is actually named after Jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt.

To anyone receiving the "python' is not recognized as an internal or external command operable program or batch file" try the following:

Go to - Control Panel > System > Advanced > |Environmental Variables| > System Variables > and scroll down until you find "Path". Click on it and then click the Edit button and add C:\Python27; (python install directory) to the end of the string. Then, restart your prompt and try entering the command again.

... and if like me you are using this tutorial to help with a Vista install, well Vista can do the "Open command window here" thing too. For example, search for "randyrants vista elevated command prompt here".

Thanks for that. I used it to help me do a Vista install. Only glitch was when the setup.py failed to create the django folder in the site_packages, for which the fix was to run the command prompt as administrator.

Thanks so much for this video. As an ignorant no matter how many books or tutorials I read I couldn't get this concept of turning the cmd into a >>>> python deal and consequently couldn't figure out howto install django. back from the brink of despair! cheers

helpful tip: In windows 7, you can hold down shift and right click the explorer window and select "Open command window here" so you don't have to CD into all your directories
