Is this a baroque cello and bow? It sounds cool even though it's really fast!

Yes, it is a baroque cello and baroque bow. With a modern cello/bow it would be very difficult to play it in this tempo!

I really enjoyed your video!
Why would it be difficult for a cellist on a modern instrument play this fast?

Thanks! I think it would be more difficult because a modern bow is heavier, especially at the tip, so short, fast bow strokes demand more energy. Besides, the tone production would be less direct on a modern cello. OK, maybe it would be more adequate to say that I wouldn't like it myself if I would play this fast on a modern cello :-)

I wonder what a cobination of baroque cello and modern bow or a modern cello with a baroque bow will do.

Just try it! In my experience, a modern bow on a baroque cello sounds OK, but quick articulation won't be much easier than with a modern bow on a modern cello. A baroque bow on a modern cello will probably be easy to play, but the sound might be a bit too thin.

Hoi Job, leuk gedaan!
