Since being founded in 2001, the trio with the Brazilian pianist Malcolm Braff, and, from Switzerland, Baenz Oester on bass and Samuel Rohrer on drums, has become a unit with an instinctive understanding of itself, and has developed a self-contained, collective and authentic musical language combining, in an irresistible way, great tonicity, unconditional desire for improvisation and hymnic depth. Maximal Music.

Based on the experience that, under the right conditions, individual energy in music increases into something much greater, the three musicians create a framework that, without compromise, focuses on merging the individual with the whole. The music manages without consultation and hierarchies and can thus totally abandon itself to the moment. The three equal musicians create the overall sound of the music beyond any hierarchies in order to give the music and its development the necessary space.
This collective concept is reflected in the band name: BraffOesterRohrer.
