The 1928 E.M. Skinner Grand Organ of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Roman Catholic Church in Chicago, Illinois is one of the few Skinner organs that remains in nearly all of its original state. Skinner himself gave the organ its final tonal specifications which have not been changed over the years.

This demo was recorded using Hauptwerk. The piece is Widor's Symphonie # 10 (Romane) Mvt. I performed by Brett Milan

  • I am studying this piece. by any chance did you do the other 3 movements, or the final? This whole concept is awesome beyond words--I'll have more to say about this...

  • Yes, the entire Widor symphonie with all 4movements is available on our website. Please click the "More info" link in the upper right section on this page, it has a link to our website.

  • Could you please put up a piece on YouTube in stacatto mode using the E.M. Skinner Virtual Pipe Organ? In legatto mode, such as this rendition of the opening movement of Widor's 10th organ symphony, this virtual organ set is beautiful.

  • I'm afraid we don't have any other videos of this organ. You can listen to many other audio demonstrations by visiting the Skinner MP3 demos page with the link listed above under (more info).

  • @MilanDigitalAudio

Mount Holyoke College has a large Hutchings/Skinner, five divisions, in excellent condition virtually untouched except for a new digital console inside Mr. Skinner's original.

  • Is this the latest version of this organ set? The reverb sounds a lot better than the first set that I bought (it has too much of the tangy oil drum reverb tail) or are you using the dry set with reverb software or hardware (and if so, please provide details)? Also, are you working on any other full 32-pedal 61-note manual organ sets? Have you also considered offering extensions to your existing organ sets which give the full 32-pedal and full 61-note manual ranges (e.g. the Cavaille-Coll)?

  • Looks like this E. M. has gone under the knife! Look at all the SSL modules! The stained glass reflected in the rack is a nice touch, though. I generally abhor electronic organs, but this whole virtual organ craze makes a whole lot of sense for home practice and enjoyment. Fun videos!

  • was this a free download??

  • BOO!

  • Its worth the money. I have the set and play it all the time. I'll post something using it hopefully fairly soon.

  • I really want this sample set because I love it's stop list. Especially the zimbelstern, chimes, celesta, and carillon. I haven't found any other sample sets with percussion stops like this. I really want a sample set with percussion on it because chimes and zimbelstern can add so much to any piece. The only problem is that this sample set is just so expensive. Does anybody know of any other sample sets with percussion stops on them that sell for around $200-$300?

  • Awesome! This is a lifesaver for me! Or, at least, it's steering me away from a large investment in a digital organ that won't begin to touch what Hauptwerk is capable of! THANKS!
