This is a sonata written by Schubert (obv!) It was written for the string instrument called the Arpegionne which came into 'fashion' around Schuberts time, and this really is the only known work for it. The instrument was not a success and it was almost immediately got rid of!
Now, this sonata is most commonly played on the Cello or the Viola
Played by the one and only Yuri Bashmet!
