Obama talks on Iran June 23, 2009

President Obama sharpened his language on Iran and stressed the urgency of overhauling the health care system at his news conference Tuesday.


"The United States and the international community have been appalled and outraged by the threats, beatings and imprisonments of the last few days. I strongly condemn these unjust actions," the president said.

Obama's Iran policy has received intense scrutiny in recent days amid growing concerns over Tehran's violent crackdown on street protests. The Iranian demonstrators believe the country's June 12 presidential election was a sham.

Obama earlier called on Iran to stop violent and unjust steps that stifle free speech, but some Republicans have criticized him for not siding more strongly with the demonstrators.

Obama blasted allegations of some in the Iranian government that the United States is "instigating protests" as "patently false and absurd."

The accusations "are an obvious attempt to distract people from what is truly taking place within Iran's borders," Obama said.

"This tired strategy of using old tensions to scapegoat other countries won't work anymore in Iran. This is not about the United States and the West; this is about the people of Iran and the future that they -- and only they -- will choose."

Recently (March 2007)Congress voted $120 M for anti-regime media broadcasts into Iran and $60M in funding for opposition, violent underground Marxists and restive groups as Azeris, Kurds, Arabs under the "Iran Democracy Program". Pakistani intelligence sources put the CIA's recent spending on "black operations" to subvert Irans government at $400 million. No wonder Iran hates US.

Iran has the right to defend themselves. It is a threat to US security TO go over to Iran, or cause any anger towards us when we are beyond broke, it's common sense. They cannot hit the United States with bombs, and supporting Israel should be out of the question. Fuck Israel. Why do people support this bullshit. They pose absolutely no direct threat to the US, not to mention they may face a revolution just by themselves. Let Iran be Iran.

Iran has acted with responsable restraint and hasn't invaded another country in 150 years

America has:

-started many terrible wars

-used nukes, and threatens to again

-surround Iran with military bases

-overthrown their government

-imposed 30 years of blockades and sanctions, an act of war in itself

-installed and funded Saddam to attack Iran

-used consistant hateful bias in its media

Iran has more civil rights and a better democracy than the US since Bush's election fixing and the patriot act
