U2 - Gloria (The Tube)

U2 finally reach the masses appearing on channel 4's The Tube. The programme prided itself on mixing the sound and producing it for TV better than had been done before in music TV. The Edge's guitar is too far down in the mix at the start but this was the first song and an early broadcast and they do correct it. This is from the original broadcast. NB. Unfortunately for some strange reason the sound on all my clips has gone very quiet.

I saw the band playing in Leeds about five hours after this broadcast. I was getting ready for the gig when they came on The Tube. They were still playing as the program ended, and I thought to myself "How are they going to get all the way from Newcastle to Leeds and set up in three hours? " Of course, they were late starting.
