YouTube is the wet dream of every non-celebrity in America's cult-of-celebrity culture. Anyone can get on and say something. The prettier you are, the more you get watched and are empathized with.
In my opinion, it's the ideal medium for people to visually pat themselves on the back and spread how 'unique' they are to whomever is willing to listen. For all the genuine self-expression going on, there's an equal amount of utterly foolish nonsense. But mostly, it's people patting themselves.
