Ehler Danlos syndrome is also a precursor to an aortic dissection.
Also If you have had a heart attack or have blood pressure over stage two hypertension sustained for a long time. The aorta has the most blood pressure out of any other blood vessel in the body. You have to watch out for that.

I think it's probable, but it is still under investigation. At least: was under investigation last time i saw the pt (april 2009, if I remember correctly).

Is Marfan's very common in Italy? I actually am in Italy currently although not performing echo. I was just wondering.

I think that Marfan has more or less the same frequency than in other countries. But I'm not exprert in epidemiology nor genetic diseases. Are you american? What kind of nick is "moderadonna"? Italian?
