Okay not really a lost episode but it was not included in the Season 5 DVD set and the chance to put on the final season DVD set wasn´t used. So this episode will only survive on old tapes, recordings and maybe some re-airings on television.Sad!

The two part episode was aired on December 27th,1975 and shows the pilot in a flashback format.
Please notice the Jack Webb reference at the end of the video!

  • So what was the reason for this episode in the first place? Cost cutting or something?

  • @funkyflashman You´re absolutely right. The fifth season was a very expensive one and i think they wanted to save some money with that two parter. No expensive sets,no guest stars,no special effects. Those scenes where shot on one day maybe between two other episodes.

  • This episode is not lost, it is at the beginning of the season 1 set. The copy shown on season 5 featured new scenes and the episode as we know it as flashbacks. So all that is "lost" are the present (5th season) scenes that frame the story.

  • Junior & Pally!! rotfl rotfl rotfl rotfl

  • @paramedic51 And yet, they still managed to produce 22 episodes for that fifth season, not counting "Wedsworth-Townsend". The funny thing is, I don't recall seeing this on the network on a Saturday. The first time I saw this was actually in syndication. This had to have been shown on another night entirely when NBC didn't have anything else going on.

  • @mazsenior I wonder how many others can say the same thing?

  • The first episode! Gotta love it

  • I served 24 years in the Fire Service, with over half those years as a Paramedic, just because of those two guys..LOL

  • @funkyflashman Also, i remember not seeing this until after the show gone into syndication. so this may have been a way to incorporate the pilot into the syndication package.

  • Haha, just found a mistake, Johnny was working Station 10 not Station 8. Wonder how they mad that mistake.

  • Hey Can you upload all the episodes on youtube ?

  • @paramedic51 If you'll also note, when this "framed" episode was produced, current soundtrack music was used occasionally, and scenes were cut from the original pilot footage.
