There is no oboist in America who can compete with the Elaine's sound...it's like chocolate, love, and unicorns all blended together.

@mjfoboe This is not really oboe sound.its not bad but is more like studio mistake.
What others me is that every note starts flat and rises up.Euro oboe sound and reed making gives more expression and color and makes as all different.In the states people sound very alike.Will all my respect I will always go with Albrecht Mayer

Il s'agit de la gymnopédie n°I ....
j'ai mis ma vidéo Gymnopédie n°3 orchestration DEBUSSY interprétée par ORCHESTRE DES CONCERTS DU CONSERVATOIRE DE PARIS sans erreur possible pour notre patrimoine, mais si Piano solo elle devient n°1 (erreur d'écriture de DEBUSSY ou l'éditeur et jamais corrigé)
la gymnopédie n°3 piano solo devient 1 en orchestration ....Comparez avec Paris vous aurez la réponse ! notre ami DistanMinorrors a aussi présenté une belle orchestration Gymnopédie n°3 le 23.07.2008

The is tone is dark-silky - and blends ...... It is also "quite covered" which I feel robs from intensity and expression. The European Oboists possess a more individualistic tradition which produces a wider variety of oboe color and tone and expression.

@mjfoboe Yes you are right about her tone in this track. To me thats too dark and almost sounds like a flute. I think it has to do more with the way it was recorded in the studio. About American vs EU or French sound, it's all a matter of taste I think though I think too dark or too bright can be pretty dull and colorless!
