5:30 You and me we are hehe at the same time lol :D

Nice try but it will seriously lower the life of the cree which you knew by the sounds of it anyway. Still good job on the bodge lol, but better to just use a proper reflow station.

Hey man it good to see a modded Task Force! I have a taskforce with a cree r2, 1.2amp 5 mode Sku 15880 circuit board and soshine AA-C battery adapters. Ive tested mine at around 275-285 lumens on fresh eneloops. This thing is a friggen light saber on high!

Thank you for posting this video
Please remember - some are not as intelligent as you - Some are going to burn their fingers.

bam!
cool video! so does your task force have a different tint now? what driver did you use? which emitter? mine are basically unuseable at close range stock... 3 modes & 190 lumens sounds very nice!

Hi
I would like to know how to build a flashlight from DYI parts from deals extreme. My goal is to make a flashlight for about $25, although I'd be willing to put in a bit more money if I had to.
So would it be possible to tell me the SKU numbers of the necessary parts to make a good flashlight for around $25?
Thanks
is it possible to solder the emiter onto the star in an oven? or would this damage the emitter?

I have done this procedure on a Husky XRE spotlight and I am very happy and surprised with the result. Before the mod, the light barely emitted ~130 Lumens, after the mod its pushing ~185-190 Lumens (via ceiling bounce comparisons with my other lights).

You may be asking yourself, why go through all this effort and trouble, when DX sells emitter/stars already assembled? Fair question... In my opinion/speculation, DX reserves all the R2-WC color tints for their lights and P60 drop in modules. So if you want a WC tint, in th eR2 brightness BIN, the only way to get that particular emitter is to pull it from one of their P60 modules and transplant it into your host.

I remember now... when soldering the emitter onto the star, its easier to place& center the emitter on the star FIRST, and then place the star on the stove with the emitter. That way you can do it quicker, before the heatsink star cooks. You can see how I messed up the heatsink silkscreening doing it the wrong way.... DOH!!
