Leo Gorcey reminisces about Warner Bros. "Oomph" Girl, Ann Sheridan! At the top of Leo's very short list of "nice" actresses (the others in the narrow field are just Carole Lombard and Martha Raye!), Ann Sheridan holds an endurance record, of sorts, in that she co-starred with the Dead End Kids in three films -- Angels With Dirty Faces, They Made Me A Criminal and Angels Wash Their Faces -- and she managed to successfully fend off all of their collective amorous offscreen advances! In this anecdote, a remorseful Gorcey tells about the time the gang prevented Annie from keeping a dental appointment by misappropriating her car.

  • Ann Sheridan is one of the most underrated actresses of all time. Nearly everything she did was quality and you never hear or read anything bad about her from her coworkers and peers, only praise. She left us way too young.

  • I would have loved to hear the end of that story.

Ann was one of Hollywood's greatest beauties.

  • these movies are from a era just before me. i would say my parents time. i enjoyed them as tv movies in the 1960's . I think of my stuff as the Sandy Becker , generation, and thats old now to.

  • She was beautiful ;-)

  • Ann and Martha Raye were dear friends. They starred together in "Navy Blues" for Warner Bros. in 1941 (which was also Jackie Gleason's first movie). Martha married Neal Lang during filming and Ann was her maid of honor. Thanks for posting this.

  • Thanks for this clip. Annie Sheridan was and still is in my heart, she was a very good actress.

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please view my clip of some rare 1930's movie star cards, including Carole Lombard, Bette Davis, Clark Gable, Mae West, Will Rogers and many more.
