The Hobbit - J.R.R. Tolkien Book by Peter Jackson Movie Review. The adventure follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug. Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin Oakenshield. Their journey will take them into the Wild; through treacherous lands. Bilbo Baggins not only discovers depths of guile and courage that surprise even him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities... A simple, gold ring that is tied to the fate of all Middle-earth in ways Bilbo cannot begin to know.

the App i mention is called RunPee, which marks spots of slow or no action in the movie, and will give you a summary to read while you have to go & also tell you how long you have.

Interesting critique. I read all of Tolkein's works for the *first* time back in the 60s, and I've been through some of them a few times since. Without knowing, I would've expected it to reasonably follow the printed word, but then, so much of it is the visions and fantasies that the book creates in your head, and no two of us would likely see it the same anyway.

So the saturation effects suck. How about 48 fps versus 24?

I can see where Jackson thought there was more to embellish in the Hobbit from the appendices and its a good ploy, it also works quiet well as he mixes it into the story of the hobbit better than it would have been in LOTR. i do like the things he did. a far as color, it seem flat in alot of areas as compared to LOTR, both 48 and 24 as if they over used the "Dreamy" effect. LOTR was very vibrant in color.

Are the issues more apparent in either version ? Cause I want to see the least distracting of the two.

Thanks for the review Thor. I was planning to see it when I got off duty Wednesday morning. Wasn't sure which version to see but I think I'll do the same thing you did and catch both versions.

I thought the Tone, if you mean color, was off, i am currently watching the Lord of the Rings and the colors were more vibrant than the Hobbit
