Hi. I'm very interested in that reed switch. Can you tell me more specifically what it is and where you got it please ?

Sure. It's a SPDT (single pole double throw) and I made it out of popsickle sticks and thin magnetic metal of some sort. My camera doesn't show it switching very well but it basically is making contact with the motor most of the time...then when the magnet comes around it pulls the long middle contact (+ of battery) off of the motor contact and on to the capacitor contact, momentarily flashing the energy into the battery. "Oglundasotarn" also made one and his is still running.

your GF is sweet ... the wheel seems to be slower or is it just that the wobble has been corrected ... how is the charge rate now that the new commutator is installed?

lol...she's a beast. Better speed...nothing has been corrected...lol...she still wanders a bit on me. I think most of the wobble came with the pressure from the "brushes." I'm building a new girlfriend now (~5lbs). I get the feeling that this one is too heavy (~15lbs). Out with the old...In with the new.
