  • @insentientt Corporations dominate america and most people are too stupid to question this : they are posiening us. Look at the crap "food" they sell at WallMart. Then all the fast food bullshit. 90% of the supermarket is junk, processed garbage. But people like their "comforts" and don't really care if they're fat and unhealthy.

  • 76 people must work Big Pharma

  • @LordKaisen So what's your solution, ban milkshakes? People can become addicted to literally anything. There's good cause to believe that even psychological addictions are physical in nature due to the neural connections established in our brains. Finger pointing at producers of products is not the solution: education and self control is. You have full control over the decision to pull into Wendy's, order a milkshake, and fork over the money.

  • @GaryNull "Wrong. These industries brain-wash people with their marketing and commericals."

You have got to have a pretty weak will / sheltered life to take commercials/marketing seriously.

"people are stupid about food because of this"

People are stupid about food because they are too lazy / unwilling to learn basic nutrition, or just don't care.

Food industries are not trying to ban biology/nutrition books. Anyone who wants to learn to eat healthy may freely do so in this country.

  • @911twoof partly. Yeah the food corporations didn't make you go in and try a wendy's milkshake. But once you try it, you're hooked. You go back for another one. And another one. And another one. And our bodies are hormone-driven; we are rewarded every time we eat something fatty. Pleasure. And that's what the companies market on. They exploit our pleasure sensors. It takes a shitload of will to get off the stuff once you're hooked.

Bottom line, who's to blame? I say both.

  • @911twoof Wrong. These industries brain-wash people with their marketing and commericals. The meat and dairy industry have been doing this forever and they are powerful and people are stupid about food because of this. The food industry is controlled and is only concerned about profits, like everything else in america. It's a game.

  • @GaryNull Corporations don't make you fat you goddamn fool, fat people make themselves fat by overeating (unless they have a medical condition that prevents lipid breakdown). The reason that 90% of the food in supermarkets is junk is because *PEOPLE BUY IT*. Supply and demand. There would be a larger percentage of fresh, healthy food if people wanted it, but they don't. What's really scary is all of the morons who agree with you. Folks like you just want to blame everyone else but yourselves.

  • @GaryNull

No.. I am saying the only reason why drugs are a major problem is because they have helped us eliminating most of the problems of diseases. You no longer die of influenza, common cold, measles, etc because of drugs.

Say you have a chart of the top 2 causes of deaths in 1900

say drugs is rated at 50,000/year

    diseases are at 10,000,000/year

Total deaths in the two are 10,050,000

    And in 2000,

    drugs are at 150,000/year

    diseases are at 1,000,000/year

    Total = 1,150,000

  • @cr9527 You are making no sense. So you are saying that we should keep getting more sick (which is preventable) and just keep making more drugs that don't work but make you sicker. You must work for a drug company or something because I can drive a U Haul truck through your logic.

  • The answer to this bullshit? Downsize the industries and break up the corporations and trusts, not just pharmaceuticals, but all of them. If Obama wants to reverse his trend of being a detrimental president, then this is what he should do. Teddy Roosevelt did it, why can't Obama? This corporate bullshit has gone on long enough, it's time to do something about it. While we're at it, we may as well try to figure out a way to get rid of money altogether.

  • @GaryNull

The only reason why medicine is A major cause of death in the US is because medicine has eradicated all previous major causes.

Imagine an air bag system that protects drivers so well that the only way to be killed in the car left is to be suffocated by the air bag.
