  • Its funny on middle and highschool teachers demand everyone to play as close to the bridge as possible, but on most double basses, the tone is usually more warmer if you play closer to the fingerboard. It changes the tambre of the entire section into a warmer, lower frequency, tone. But if an entire bass section played closer to the bridge, I'd always here a stronger Kazoo sound and higher frequencies that do not stick out aws much in concert. Of course this works for solo playing (clearer tone)
