It will if you don't select the correct partition. You'll want to carefully read through the section on Dual Booting first: wiki.pcbsd.org/index.php/Dual_Booting. Hope that helps!

Is this sped up in anyway or is that just how fast it usually runs?

Can I ask the difference between FreeBSD and PC-BSD? PC's installer looks nice and simple, but what else is different?

PC-BSD comes out of the box with X.org and a desktop configured, the PBI system for package management, a number of custom utilities like the bluetooth manager and ports jail, and a variety of other enhancements to make it more suitable for desktop use. FreeBSD power-users might find the amount of pre-configuration restricting, just as casual desktop users might find FreeBSD's required amount of configuration daunting. In that sense, PC-BSD IS FreeBSD - just optimized for a different user base.

GPL is not an issue, and flash is installed by default and most multimedia apps come with the codecs they need.

I only have one question about this since this is designed for new users and is meant to be very simple, how do you handle things like codecs I'm assuming that since it's not under the GPL licencing that I have become accustomed to it comes with Codec support but since there is no native Flash support for FreeBSD, does it come bundled with the Linux version or do I have to install it myself? (Not a huge issue I just have to read some documentation if I do, I'll be new to the *BSD's)

GNOME3 and MATE are still being ported, but will definitely be added as desktops once they become available.
