My first test of the Vision 200T Negative Super 8 Filmstock.

Shot during a summer trip to Sweden's premier ski resort of Åre in county Jämtland. We took the cable car up the main peak. The temperature at ground level was a lovely 30 degrees celcius but at the top it was only 7 degrees celcius! You can see that some snow was still up there.

In the film are my wife Anneli, and her parents (my in-laws!) Sveneric and Gun.

Camera used was a Canon 1014XL-S using a B&W KR-12 colour correction filter screwed onto the lens instead of the built in daylight filter.

  • also, what do i do when the film says 'end' but the cartridge has not finished?

  • Is the 'end' light flasing in the viewfinder?

It could be that the film has jammed - take it out and tap it firmly but gently in your palm a few times and put it back.

    Hope this helps!

  • The aspect ratio seems slightly off, other than that this is beautiful footage!

  • Hmm, on second thought maybe it is just YouTube's pillarboxes that are throwing my eye off...

Anyway, great landscape shots, did you use a graduated ND filter for the sky, or is that just impressive latitude of the negative stock I am seeing?

  • Just used a KR-12 (B+W) filter screwed on the lens - the rest is down to the stock!

  • Thanks Derek! It's nice to get a comment from you as I have been admiring your output also. It was shot 1.33.1 'Academy ratio' I think it always looks bad on youtube!

  • @Caspersdaddy I am going to buy that filter. How do you disengage the internal one?

  • Hey, wow! Thanks. Cool to know I have viewers from abroad, especially ones that shoot such great S8 films.

Hope you check out my Vimeo channel too, if you haven't seen it. I'm user462501.

    Keep up the good work!

  • Thanks - Shot at 24fps - used a B+W KR-12 screw on filter instead of using the internal colour correction filter - Mix of Auto and Manual exposures - this particular film was processed and transfered by Todd AO in London - but most of the films I have on youtube were done by Andec in Berlin. Hope this answers your questions?

  • I am impressed with the quality of the film you do, I have a camera equitable to you, but I have some questions, film at 24 fps?, how do you did? what telecine process that you used, I hope I answered. thanks and congratulations
