Innovative Intersection option at SH6 & FM529 in Houston, TX. One attractive option is a Continuous Flow Intersection (CFI) concept. This video was developed to communicate the traffic benefits of the concept and its ability to accommodate 2035 traffic. The noticeably reduced congestion is an expected benefit with these types of innovative concepts.

  • do you have a simulation for what happens as traffic gets much more heavy and congested, compared to the same congestion rates for a regular version of this intersection? what about people attempting to make left turns from the wrong lane?

  • @iamafractal

This simulation is showing 2035 projected traffic volumes. The video titled SH6 & FM529 CFI and Median U-Turn Options - Houston, TX" (can't post a link) is a video showing a side-by-side of two different options, the CFI option starting at 2:00 which compares a traditional intersection with the same traffic.

The design makes it difficult to turn left from the wrong lane.
