Sadly a golden opportunity was missed to finally end the war in the summer of 1940 due to faulty planning, Hitler's dithering over dismantling the British Empire and cold feet on the part of the German High Command over a cross channel invasion. A National Socialist win was there to be had and which could never be repeated later. A fully Nationalised Europe with a bit more finesse than displayed by Hitler's Government would have saved Europe from its current economic and social woes.

@alanheath3 Germans today are very different people just like the Japanese, sometimes a nation needs a kick in the head when they get too big for their boots, same can be said for the British empire, America, Russia and France , be it Waterloo or Afghanistan, it all serves as a lesson taught, it is just a shame some people skip history class.

@Rautaristi86 Wrong, Germany would of colapsed eventually anyway due to Hitlers suicidal tendancies, serious splits within the nazi regime and the fact Hitler had wasted his best troops by sending them to freeze to death in Russia, the Americans certainly helped it colapse a lot quicker though saving (probably) millions of lives both allied and axis.

@1988deef You have nothing to feel sorry for...most of ww2 was caused by Hitler and his nazi followers, and many Germans were also good and went against Hitler. In my opinion Germany (nowadays) is a lovely country with lovely people. :)
