Hey Mobert mandarins have been bred in captivity and they are also being released by ora (i think) as full captive breed (all three types)
I managed to get mine a few weeks in without any problems but my growth rate was really slow compared to other breeders.
I started the eggs in a egg kriesel and after 24hrs you end up with pro larvae. I kept mine going with the standard clown fish mix, rot's and phyto.
I'm sure you'll be able to do it if you have the time.

is the male or female bigger...cause if the female is that makes no sense...cause some fish the male is bigger...and in other fish the female is bigger...why is that???

@benjonke I wish! Mandarin fish, I believe, have not been successfully bred in captivity.
