I love this scene, shows how Draco's life is a nightmare. He's misunderstood, panicked because he's failing at something Voldemort wants him to do (which will lead him to be dead and probably his parents too), and hasn't got any real friends. He doesnt want to show weakness,so he hides it by bullying others---which still isnt right, of course. But people who say he's horrible obviously didnt get the point. He may have been a snob at the beginning but deep down he has a good heart.

@geocross237 Yeah, i know...Rowling said one big difference between him and Harry is that Draco doesnt have the same compassion or feels remorse the way Harry does---at least until now. I guess thats why he's good at occlumency, he'd always had that ability to shut everything out, emotions, guilt, and people. After all these years of strutting around pretending he didn't care, it finally caught up to him.It makes me sad he cant produce a patronus.But wat happy memory could he have?

@4everlilbrunette1996 I know what you mean, but I have to somewhat disagree. Up until he was actually given his mission and officially assigned a Death Eater, I'd say he really was just a bully and genuine blood purist b/c hes rich and has influence, and nothing to lose. But now his position and power mean nothing, he can only rely on himself. Draco now finally sees how inferior (lack of less offensive term sorry), and this is what makes him start to have a change of heart.

I think part of the reason he attacked Draco while he was crying is the whole thing with him having part of Voldemort inside him, and whenever he gets worked up, he starts to lose total control
