Star of "Desperate Housewives" speaks about long-running writers' strike

James Denton was born in Nashville, Tennessee. He earned a degree in advertising from the University of Tennessee. Denton is a regular cast member on the ABC television show Desperate Housewives. He is a member of the Band From TV, a group of television celebrities who perform in order to contribute money to charity.

Hey honestly I'm glad there is a strike with no end, if you ask me this country really needs to break their addiction with TV, and start focusing on our families and our country which cannot be ignored any longer, so thank you. I hope this changes people for the better.

i think it's great that these well paid actors like james denton are going out of their way to support the writers. the networks are so greedy, there would be no hit shows like desperate housewives without great writers-how can they not see that they deserve to be paid fairly?!

I do want to say that I agree with almost everything he said and he seems like a fairly intelligent nice guy. Too bad he wasn't right about Jon Stewart crossing the picket line. Stewart was the last one I expected this from and he became the biggest scab of all clearly bringing in replacement writers, doing skits, etc.

He's been traveling around with John Edwards lately. You could pick a worse candidate to support, so that's cool. Still prefer Kucinich and Obama.

So all of what you people are saying are all of those people should be out of jobs because they chose the wrong profession thats just arregont and stupid. Yeah people are addicted to tv but tv also provides a time where people can sit down and enjoy something together for an hour. And people who are addicted to TV that is there problem dont worry about other people.

television is garbage. its whats dumbed down our society into allowing the problems we face worsen. I hope they strike forever. the one thing he said that was relevant was about how tv and the internet are going to mold into one machine.

Oh, be fair, he did say it wasn't nearly as important as Iraq and immediately downplayed his comparison.

He was only comparing that neither has "an exit strategy". That's all he meant by that.

I don't think anything more than that should be read into it.

If you hate Hollywood then just hate Hollywood - there's no need to start getting dishonest and trying to twist his words as if he was saying something he actually clearly wasn't.
