  • WHY ITS CALLED "Laz Par":

"Armenians fleeing massacres to Western Anatolian Armenia, which is now in Turkey, have successfully passed dances from this region around the world. Laz Bar, from Sev Tsov on the Black Sea coast, is one notable dance from this area. This dance incorporates the area's fishing lifestyle through shoulder shimmies, which are said to mimic the swimming motion of fish."

basically, Laz was Armenian land and the habitants formed this dance in the Laz region. there you go :)

  • The 7/8 part is the same melody than greek song To diko mou paploma :)

  • @mardirosmariam

    fascinating information thank you

  • The Laz Bar in this clip is from Shabin-Karahisar the birhplace of General Antranig. Shabin-Karahisar was located on the eastern part of the Villayet of Sivas (Sepasdia). In the 1860s Circassians moved south from the Caucasus to the Black Sea region. Due to this many Christians began to move south to the Villayets of Erzerum and Sivas. This is how "Laz" dances were first introduced and later danced in Shabin-Karahisar, Zara, Yerzngah, Garin, Gerjanis etc.

  • is Hemsin dance not Laz !

  • The second part of dance (hands over head) is 2/4.

  • The Laz Bar is an Armenian dance. I don't know why it is called Laz, except maybe that it is from Armenians from Lazistan. I once heard it was a fishermen's dance, which would make sense in a coastal area, but I don't know if that's true.

Laz bare haygagan bar e. Chem kider inchu "Laz" anune tne, pays kutse Lazistanen e?
