Theres nothing more satisfying than a really active fermentation. Makes you want to shout like Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein... "It's Alive!"

solely based on this video i brewed up my own recipe for wheat beer and tossed in a jungle plum (watermelon for those non racist folks out there) it not only fermented violently, it also stomped testicles into a fine paste. fuck everyone who says you dont have enough head space too, less space for air is good.

4 years and no comment?and it'd funny you posted this on my birthday.usual questions:how did it turn out and did you add the water melon to the secondary fermentation?I've been thinking of doing something like this to a secondary fermentation to get more of the fruit flavor out. let me know how it turned out ok?

@SasoriRocks988 1.you can custom make your own beer,2. a lot of times you can buy clone kits of your favorite beer and sometimes make it for less money 3.most people who home brew is tired of store bought brands is the reason the big companies are trying to market different styles now instead of the hum drum swill they serve to the masses.4.Most of the time it just plain taste better

You used way too much watermelon juice. Use a sweet seedless. push through a large spaced strainer first and then a smaller. Sanitize everything including the outside of the watermelon. I used 2 1/2 cups of ripe juice and that was plenty. Just enough flavor to tell it is watermelon, but not enough to destroy the rest of the hop flavor.

I had a blowoff yesterday due to a wheat beer. It was my first one and it went pretty crazy. I have brewed over 150 gallons but never a blow off. But I never brewed a wheat beer either.

That'll teach you for filling your carboy to 90% for a wheat beer.

I really DON'T understand all you silly willy Youtube people. If you are trying a new recipe why do you fill they fermentation chamber when you know full well it MAY foam over. The crazy fermentation excites me though. Keep brewing.
How do you add the watermelon to your wort?
BennyTheJettt 4 years ago
I took a 1/2 of a watermelon and pureed it in a blender and then strained it. I got about 1/2 gallon of watermelon liquid... I added it to the wort as it was cooling at approx 150degrees.
It came out Great!
