well metal almost died out during the nineties with grunge replacing it as the predominant genre,

alot of fans lost interest in maiden die to the poor recieved no prayer and fear of the dark, and both blazes yours were cut short because he suffered violent allergic reactions,

aside from this the two albums he were on were bery progressive and dark which many younger fans didnt like and some fans plain and simple couldnt accept maiden without bruce so they claimed they hated them during this era,
