We are almost the last.
Age does not wipe away the awareness
and after us the great silence awaits
on the threshold and my grand daughter says:
I have a test on the Holocaust
Our lives our quivering nightmares will become dates.
And a young lawyer says they are old and senile
one cannot rely on what they say
We are almost the last disappearing slowly
taking with us the silence and the cry.
We are almost the last and a short scrap of time is left
to testify to nightmare and to settle accounts
with GOD and MAN.
