Roy Hamilton's 1958 version is another great recording of this song. Close your eyes, and you can hear an early Elvis, who Elvis admired.

@MACGYVERKICKYOURASS Jerry Garcia used to do this song with his solo band. Somewhat improbably, Jerry used it as an improv vehicle, sometimes stretching the song to around a half hour in length.

Does anyone know who wrote this song, or who performed it first? It sounds like old 50's rockabilly.

@bwd81977 Good ear! The album notes say Jesse Stone originally wrote the song...it is exactly like you say, an old 50's rocker.
Although, Isaac Hayes also sang a disco version in 1979, and was very successful with it! lol
