Slobodan Milosevic wanted to be new Tito, but he didn't get support from other peoples just Serbian, even though previous leaders were all Croats including Tito. Looks like Croats couldn't deal with Serb leading Yugoslavia even that Serbs were almost 46% of Yugoslav population and Croats only 20%

@3SRBIJACCCC I know that there are no “nations” or ”peoples”. I know that there is no absolute “truth” in social sciences. People believe what propaganda tells them to believe. I´m the one repeating it.
That propaganda told the majority of the Croats that their “national interest” is independence. Thus, they saw Yugoslavia as a refuge, as a shelter since Croatia was on the wrong side during WW II, as a parking lot, waiting for independence.
In 1991 they saw their chance.

@MarshalRedDog And let´s not be hypocrites; Croatia of today, founded in 1992 by HDZ, is based on the ideas of Ante Pavelic.
It seems cute wanting independence, but what the majority of the Croats don´t seem to understand is that you can´t be independent in this brutal world. You have to have allies, or you will be overrun.
The majority of the Serbs have also been told by propaganda that their “national interest” is independence.

@MarshalRedDog But they have two positions; 1) Great Serbia, and 2) if not possible, a compromise, Yugoslavia, since then “all Serbs will be in the same country”.
They seem to have realized that total independence is impossible in today’s world.
So, they wanted to keep Yugoslavia, while the majority of the Croats were running away from her.
Came to think about it; as long as I remember it, Croats were running away from something.

@MarshalRedDog I can see the symptoms today, that they´ve already started running away from EU, before even entering it. When will they settle down?
You´re right about Milosevich; He was a socialist. His view was an inverted Serb view. His first position was Yugoslavia as “the home of all Serbs”, and when it all went to hell, nothing else remained but “Great Serbia”.

@MarshalRedDog And it went to hell since the majority of the Slovenes and Croats absolutely wanted out of Yugoslavia. By any means.
Then the collapse couldn´t have been prevented anymore. By then the only reaming question was who was going to grab more territory.
