i had the same thing happin to me ona flight from atlanta to msp,, and the pilot seemed to take up most of the run way before rotation!! and after a stormy flight we made t ,, but it waz scary goin thru those storms!!

Those "mini-wings" are vortex generators and they are there to reduce spanwise flow over the wing and improve low-speed/stall characteristics :)

Oh i see what you are saying, those are called wing tip vortexes. Though that one never originated on the wing, it probably originated on 'mini-wings' on the engines that are there for aerodynamic reasons.
